The main principle guiding the activities of Fatih University is to teach all that is required by the modern times, so that the targets shown by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, founder of the Turkish Republic, who equipped the country with modern standards, can be achieved while maintaining national interests. In accordance with this principle, the University educates scientists and researchers who are capable of scientific thought and who fulfil the requirements of a secular, democratic understanding while respecting the unity of the nation and its peoples, and human rights and liberties.

The University aims to educate qualified scientists in the country and to provide opportunities for successful Turkish scientists abroad in its full-fledged laboratories. Efforts to create an infrastructure complying with the standards applied in respectable institutions world wide have been initiated in this regard, and the University, in turn, has managed to appeal to the interest of Turkish scientists abroad.
In its pursuit of providing education that would yield capable scientists, the University supports its professors in their efforts to contribute to foreign publications. Graduate students are also promoted on the way to become future scientists. The intellectual quality of Turkish academics is increased in this way.
The University helps students to develop abilities to have access to and to provide, produce and assess information. Students and researchers are also presented the latest developments in information technologies, to pave the way for the country’s integration with the world.
As an institution of higher education under the Board of Higher Education, Fatih University makes it obligatory for all its students and professors to comply with all the relevant laws and regulations, and maintains the interests of its country and humanity when conducting scientific studies.
With the help of the quality education provided, the University is in the pursuit of preventing the brain-drain caused by Turkish people travelling abroad for educational purposes. This will pave the way for the return of the Turkish professors working abroad and providing access to quality education within the country.
The University sets its sight at attaining universal quality in terms of education and scientific research and projects. It co-operates with European and US universities for educational and research purposes, to help increase the quality of education to international standards. Foreign professors who have acquired high reputation in their respective fields were invited to Turkey in this regard and co-operation agreements have been concluded with many foreign universities.
Keeping up with the continuously changing scientific and technological developments and having high international competitive power is among the main tasks to be achieved by Fatih University. 40 science and engineering laboratories were set up for this purpose and funds have been allocated for conducting projects and research.
As easy and rapid access to scientific studies is important in terms of having international competitive power, Fatih University provides students and researchers with the latest technology in its laboratories and the library, and also through electronic subscription to scientific magazines.
Scholarships granted to successful students throughout the year will have its impacts on the potential students of Fatih University. The professors are also evaluated on the basis of their scientific studies and the achievements of the academic staff can also be evaluated through the grading system implemented.
The University co-operates with other state and private universities when designing curricula and course content. Students that transfer from Fatih University to other state and private universities can easily adapt to the programs of those universities. At the end of each academic year an evaluation procedure is carried out to evaluate the quality of education and the abilities of the students to learn and the professors to train and help students in the respective year. The questionnaires designed in this regard help assess the performances of the students, professors, programs and the academic environment. The University aims to maintain the quality of the education provided above Turkey’s average. As such, the University has managed to employ successful professors that have worked abroad and in Turkey.
Courses are held in English at the University and students are envisaged to learn another foreign language as well. Language courses in German, French, Russian and Spanish are available as electives to all students.
Programs available at the University include a wide range of projects, theses, and trainings.
There are some student clubs at the University, through which students can find chances to express themselves, as well as to train themselves in terms of organisation, participation and planning. They also develop skills in the fields they are interested in. |
